The Mill Shanghai made a video for a sci-fi survival game.

The video we worked on ended up being featured on the main page of the Chinese version of the game’s website.

Earth: Revival (星球：重启) is a third-person RPG-shooter where you run around in an open world, gather loot, and take down various monsters. Sadly, that’s all I know.

And that’s exactly why I took the risk of installing the local version of the game launcher. I just really wanted to play and have some fun…

Downloaded 45 GB of pure Chinese data, launched the software. Got shown a minute-long video with English voiceover. Okay, not bad… Then they asked me to register using a local phone number. Alright, I’ve got one, let’s go… Then a message popped up asking me to confirm some super important thing or else no entry. Fine, I confirmed. What next? Dessert time: “due to local regulations… blah, blah, blah… protection for children… health of the planet… a thousand and one reasons… please enter your real name and a valid Chinese citizen ID number.”
